Who runs this site

TheGreenWatt (thegreenwatt.com) is an educational website operated by Moving Data Systems d.o.o., a company based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, of which Marko Visic is CEO. For any privacy questions or requests, write to info@thegreenwatt.com. We aim to respond within a few days, and in any case within 30 days as required by GDPR.

What this site does and doesn't do

TheGreenWatt is a free educational site about solar energy. It contains interactive calculators, articles, and reference data. It does not:

  • Have user accounts, logins, or registration of any kind
  • Sell anything or process payments
  • Collect names, addresses, phone numbers, or financial information from visitors
  • Operate a newsletter or mailing list
  • Sell or trade visitor data with third parties

Calculator inputs (panel wattage, ZIP code, system size, and similar) are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to or stored on our servers, with one exception described under Third-party APIs below.

Data collected automatically

When you visit, your browser provides standard request metadata to our hosting provider (Vercel): IP address, user-agent string, requested URL, HTTP referrer, and timestamp. Vercel processes this for security, abuse prevention, and to serve the page. We do not query or store this data ourselves.

Analytics

This site does not run a web-analytics tag — there is no Google Analytics, and we set no analytics cookies. We rely on the aggregate traffic reporting provided by our advertising partner (Raptive) instead, which needs no analytics script of our own running in your browser.

Advertising

This site is supported by advertising. Ads are managed and served by Raptive, our advertising service provider, together with its advertising partners (which include Google).

CMI Marketing, Inc., d/b/a Raptive (“Raptive”) is a service provider of this Site for the purposes of placing advertising on the Site, and Raptive will collect and use certain data for advertising purposes. Raptive and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to deliver and measure advertising, including showing ads based on your visits to this site and other sites. These advertising cookies are governed by Raptive's Consent Management Platform (see Consent management below): if you do not consent, advertising cookies are not set and ads are served in a non-personalized manner where possible.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time through the US Digital Advertising Alliance, the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance, or Google's Ads Settings page.

Consent management

Consent for advertising is handled by a single Consent Management Platform (CMP) provided by Raptive, which loads with the ads. It is the only consent tool on the site. On your first visit it presents your choices (and, in regions that require it, withholds non-essential cookies until you decide); you can reopen it at any time through the privacy controls the CMP itself provides.

This site does not store a separate cookie-consent flag of its own — your choice lives entirely with Raptive's CMP.

Contact form

The form at /contact/ is relayed by Web3Forms, a third-party form-to-email service. When you submit the form, your name, email, chosen topic, and message text are sent through Web3Forms and forwarded to info@thegreenwatt.com. We use the information solely to read and reply to your message. We do not add submitters to any mailing list or share submission data with anyone else. See Web3Forms' privacy policy for their data handling.

Third-party APIs we call on your behalf

The Peak Sun Hours calculator at /peak-sun-hours-calculator/ accepts a U.S. ZIP code or geolocation coordinates and forwards them, server-to-server, to two external services:

  • Zippopotam.us — a free public ZIP-code database used to convert a ZIP code to latitude/longitude.
  • NREL PVWatts v8 — U.S. Department of Energy API used to fetch solar irradiance data for that coordinate.

These requests are made from our server, not your browser, and do not include your IP address. The coordinates are used for the lookup and discarded — they are not logged, stored, or associated with any visitor identifier.

Cookies and local storage in detail

This site can set the following client-side storage items:

  • Advertising cookies set by Raptive and its advertising partners (including Google): set in line with your choice in the CMP. Used to deliver and measure ads.
  • Consent cookies set by Raptive's CMP: record your consent choices so the tool does not reappear on every visit. Managed by the CMP, not by this site.

You can change your choices at any time by reopening Raptive's CMP through the privacy controls it provides.

Your rights under GDPR (EU/EEA/UK visitors)

Because we do not collect personally identifiable information, there is generally no personal data tied to you that we hold and could produce, correct, or delete on request. If you nonetheless wish to exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, or objection, email info@thegreenwatt.com and we will respond within 30 days. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority. In Slovenia, this is the Information Commissioner (Informacijski pooblaščenec).

Your rights under CCPA (California visitors)

We do not sell personal information. California residents may email info@thegreenwatt.com with any request related to their personal information; we will respond within 45 days.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any information from them. If you believe a child has provided information through this site, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page changes. Material changes will also be flagged in the site footer for at least 30 days.
